A tradition since the 1900s
A true Swedish kräftskiva, under Bangkok skies
Every August and September across Sweden, Finland and Norway, friends gather under paper lanterns to celebrate the crayfish harvest. Bibs on, schnapps poured, voices raised in song. For more than a century the Thai-Nordic Association has carried this ritual to Thailand, and it remains the warmest night on our calendar.
In 1562, the Swedish King Erik the 14th demanded as many crayfish as possible for his sister Anna’s wedding. The party we know today took shape in the 1900s, the same decade our Association was founded.
An evening served the Nordic way
Last year Chef Philippe Gaudal and his team at The Landmark cooked 200 kilos of crayfish the traditional Swedish way. Here is a taste of what awaits.
Crayfish, the Swedish way
Mountains of dill-cooked crayfish, cracked open by hand at long shared tables. As much as you can eat.
Akvavit and snapsvisor
Ice-cold akvavit, chilled beer and Nordic wines, paired with the schnapps songs that make the night.
Nordic classics with a twist
Deconstructed toast skagen, kaviar and crispbread, nubbesallad, and mini princess cakes for dessert.
Live band and dancing
The Boss Band keeps the floor moving long after the last crayfish has been peeled.

No. Friends of the Nordics are always welcome. Members enjoy a reduced ticket price, so if you attend often it is worth joining the Association first.
It is the traditional Nordic crayfish party held at the end of summer. Think long tables, paper lanterns, comically large bibs, fresh dill-cooked crayfish, ice-cold akvavit and plenty of singing.
Festive and comfortable. Party hats and bibs are provided, so you are dressed for the occasion the moment you arrive.
Yes. Choose a full table of ten when you book, and add every guest name now or be reminded later. Only the person booking the table needs to be a member of the Thai-Nordic Association — your other nine guests do not.
Alongside the crayfish there are Nordic classics such as toast skagen, kaviar, crispbread and salads.
Last year we welcomed 200 guests and the evening sold out. We recommend booking early.
