It started with a sold-out event. It ended with a night skyline, a live band, and 100 people dressed as Vikings sailing through the heart of Bangkok. The Viking Boat Party 2026 was everything we hoped it would be, and then some.
After a decade-long absence, the Thai-Nordic Association brought back one of the most beloved events in the Nordic community in Bangkok, and the response was overwhelming. Every single ticket was claimed before the event day arrived. The gods had spoken.
From the Jungle to the River
This was no ordinary party. The Viking Boat Party was designed as a full-day adventure, a multi-stage experience that took guests from Bangkok Island across the Chao Phraya River and into the green wilderness of Bang Krachao.
The day kicked off at 16:00 with arrivals at Bangkok Island Pier. Welcome drinks were poured, Viking helmets were strapped on, and teams were assembled for the afternoon’s main challenge: The Hunt for Thor’s Hammer.
Teams crossed the river by motorboat to Bang Krachao, Bangkok’s unlikely green lung, where a Viking treasure hunt tested both teamwork and Nordic spirit. Clues, challenges, and a fair amount of friendly chaos unfolded under the trees before participants returned victorious (or at least entertained) to the pier.
At 19:00, a beach-style buffet dinner brought everyone together for food, recovery, and the kind of easy conversation that only happens when people have just shared something memorable. The atmosphere before boarding was electric.
The Night Cruise
At 20:00, the real voyage began.
The boat, specially decorated for the occasion, pulled away from Bangkok Island Pier and into the dark waters of the Chao Phraya. For three hours, 100 Vikings sailed past illuminated lights, glittering skyscrapers, and ancient temple spires. A DJ kept the energy high. A live band brought Nordic music to the Bangkok river. The private rooftop area offered the kind of views that are difficult to find anywhere else in the city.
At 21:30, the photo contest brought an extra charge of excitement to the evening, with generous prizes from our sponsors up for grabs. By 23:00, the boat returned to Bangkok Island Pier, and the night drew to a close, though for many, it was far from over.
A Decade in the Making
The Viking Boat Party has history. The original event, held roughly a decade ago, became the stuff of Nordic Bangkok legend, famous for Viking-decorated tuk-tuks weaving through the city’s streets before the celebrations moved to the river. When the Thai-Nordic Association decided to revive it, the ambition was clear: honour that legacy and build something even better.
“There are months of planning behind a few hours of celebration,” said Bo Lund Pedersen, Secretary of the Thai-Nordic Association and lead organiser of this year’s event. “For me, the best part is seeing guests enjoy something we’ve built from scratch.”
The event was designed to bring together TNA members, friends of the Nordic community, business professionals, and anyone who enjoys great people and unique experiences in Bangkok. On the night, it delivered exactly that.
